The Freundeskreis der Fachschaft Informatik, Saarbrücken (roughly translates to: “Friends of the Computer Science Student Council, Saarbrücken”) – or in short FIS – is a registered “Verein” (a german form of a non-profit, charitable, association) that is active at Saarland University.

Founded in March 2000, the main purpose of this non-profit association is in particular the support of the work the student body, especially the Students’ Representative Council, the support of teaching and the promotion of students at the Computer Science faculty in their professional, social and cultural interests.

These goals are reached through e.g. cooperations with Sponsors, as well as providing material and monetary resources to support the work of the Students Representative Council of Computer Science at Saarland University.

The work of the FIS therefore carried out in close consultation with the Students’ Representative Council.

History & Funding

The FIS e.V. was founded in March 2000 and organized, with support of the Students’ Council of Computer Science, the company fair “Infotag” in the buildings of the Saarland Informatics Campus.

From 2016 to 2023 the FIS was in a cooperation agreement with Triathlon Transfer GmbH (Formerly known as KWT) at Saarland University, to co-organize the company fair NEXT on campus.

Since 2023 the work of the FIS e.V. is mainly funded through sponsors and cooperation partners.

Work of the FIS e.V.

The main foal of the FIS e.V. is to facilitate and improve the studies of computer science students at Saarland University. In particular, the Students’ Representative Council of Computer Science is supported financially.

The Board is elected in the annual general members meeting for two years. Since June 12th 2025, the board consists of the following persons:

As an association organised under private law, we support the work of the Student Council of the Computer Science degree programmes to the best of our ability.
