KIF

The KIF took place last week. We attended multiple working groups, e.g. AI tools, where they mainly discussed about Chat-GPT. Other groups were about representation of international students, theses, data science, awareness work, abusive authority power, student council work distribution, queer networking events, didactics.
For theses, there is a suggestion that professors present their chair and their current research topics on a special event.
In the work distribution group there was an idea came for some kind of mentoring for new council members or an approach where everybody only has one job they take care of.
The didactics group noticed that professors usually do not get special education for lecturing.
Until next meeting we will write a summary/protocol of all our attended groups and their respective results.

FSR Room

The Room was messy very often in the last few days. We will introduce a cleaning plan. Everybody please take care that they leave the room in order.

Thesis Print Support

The Thesis Print will be more expensive in the future as we have to cut budget. In general there is less money available than pre-covid. The print however is still a LOT cheaper than all other alternatives. If people have questions, they can take a look at their invoice to check how much subsidies is applied.

Special Access to University Parking

We have the right for an exiting card for parking at university. Alex is going to ask for one from AStA.

Calendar and Rental

There used to be a Google Calendar and a person who is responsible for rentals. After NEXT there will be a better solution (by Max), but until then David to take care of managing rentals. Rentals can thus be better organised and there are no more overlaps regarding rentals.

Examination Board

The Bioinformatics Examination Board is going to be reelected. Nils and Lisa have been elected before, but this time there have been volunteers (Johannes Schreieck, Lisa-Marie Rolli) from the bioinformatics. We voted on whether we want to recommend them to for this job (10 in favour, 0 abstaining, 0 against). We will invite them to a personal meeting to give them more information on what the job entails.

NEXT

The NEXT will be on 13/06/2023 which is a Tuesday. The first exhibitors will already set up on Monday. We will do all possible construction work over the weekend. The council meeting on 07/06/2023 the NEXT will hijack the student council meeting with all collaborators where we will brief all helpers.
If you know anybody that is able to help, even if it is for 2 hours, they are highly appreciated.
The THW won't be able to help this time, but as we have more time for construction, this won't be a big issue.
Nils gave us a status update on the current planning status. Nils currently is the head of planning, and we have split the work in three parts: advertising, construction and the day of the fair itself. Right now organisation goes well in our opinion. We put up posters already and are planning to do more advertising like distributing flyers in Mensaar. We need lots of people for construction, the more the merrier.

Cryptography

The Cryptography Exam took place last week. It was suboptimal in many aspects and lots of students complained about it. We will include them in our complaint to the professor. Due to the severity of the situation (it is a mandatory course for cybersecurity students), we will have a meeting with the professor next week.

Algorithms and Data Structures Core Lecture

We received an answer from the TA, the results of the Algorithms and Data Structures exam are public now. However the exam inspection can be requested by email who are again not getting answered in short time. We are working on resolving the issue.

Quiz Night

The quiz night will take place tomorrow. The quiz night afterwards will take place on 24/06/2023 in Wohnheim E here at University.
