Agenda

Disability Pride Month: Awareness Post and Information on Social Media

Lizzy wants to do something on our social media channels for disability pride month. She asks whether there are relevant institutions at university. We collected Gleichstellungsbüro and the respective AStA-Referat and talked about which concerns are handled by which institution. We talked about what forms of „Nachteilsausgleich“ there are.

Nobody was opposed to Lizzy's plan.

Summer BBQ: Report and Feedback on the Summer BBQ

Lukas and Manuel gave a summary of how the Summer BBQ went.

There was some miscommunication between Lukas and Manuel. Café Lolo didn't expect that we would like to pay on account as this wasn't communicated to them so when the cake was delivered some short-term arrangements had to be done. Also, Manuel set up GrapheneOS on his smartphone but failed to make his alarm app functional and therefore overslept.
In terms of the weather, the morning was pretty bad as there was rain. Fortunately, this turned around by noon to clear and sunny weather and quite a lot of guests visited the BBQ.

Our sponsor, Centigrade, was happy though we can imagine that in the morning they had some concerns.
At the end of the BBQ we managed to sell all beer and only little food was left.

We collected some Feedback from the helpers that were present:
Daniel suggests buying more bread as we ran out (same as last year) and had to sell sausages and Schwenker without bread. Frozen stuff (especially Corn) should be taken out of the freezer earlier since defrosting on the grill takes way too much time.
Manuel shared dishes we ran out of early in the Telegram group. He also suggests that we should request access to MMCI's kitchen and their fridges.
Karl states, that from a customer's perspective it's hard to understand what they need to do where resulting in – to some extend – chaos. Also, we should be more cautious that we actually invalidate tickets.
Ferdinand didn't know what was where as a runner, a guide sheet might have helped. Also, a list of what we ran out of at the cooler box would have been nice.
Anton reports that customers failed to understand the ticket purchase system. He was also displeased about us not having salads this year [he probably didn't consider the potato salad a proper salad]. He suggests asking more prominently for food contributions. Although in our blog post Lukas asked for contributions, someone suggested that we could also put a QR code on our poster.
Daniel prompts us to collect feedback from the Math Students' council, mainly: How did selling drinks go? Maybe we should also make it more transparent how the tickets were grouped as many customers asked. This also extends to the Schwenker operators as they need to know which ticket maps to which dishes. Kevin created some signage for customers ad hoc, maybe prepare this beforehand and for the Schwenker operators as well.
Some essential stuff was left in GHH – partly due to the rain. The construction shift wasn't always sure where to put stuff.
Manuel wishes for a “How to Schwenk” guide for Schwenker operators (e.g. How long to Schwenk, …). Providing sunscreen to our helpers would be nice as well. Daniel suggests Fachschaft-hats.
Alex states that he heard that people wish for a revival of SchwenkQR.

We thank all helpers and volunteers, especially Lukas as the main organiser of the event.

Rentals: Psychology Students Council wants to rent a small fridge

The MMCI handed two mini refrigerators to us; apparently permanently but we are not 100 % sure on that yet.

The Psychology Students Council wants to rent one of the fridges. Nobody was opposed to that.
Lukas was tasked to add the mini fridges to our list of rental deposits.

Schwencare

Max bent a screw of the Schwenker (the one linking the two rods). Also, the two crimps of the steel wire failed near the end of the summer BBQ. Thus, as you can see, our Schwenker urgently needs some loving and care. This is a good opportunity to also install the „Seilwirbelthingy“ [sic!].
Alex highlights that the Schwenkerinstandhaltungsgebühr was introduced to finance exactly such expenses.

Daniel volunteered to have a look at the Schwenker.

Equipment: Opportunity of new Sofa in the Verfügungsraum

Karl offers to donate his sofa to us. The cat present on the photo [see Telegram group] is not included and will be rubbed all over the sofa to make allergy sufferer and creatures disliking cats more “passionate” about this topic.
Space in our Verfügungsraum is scarce (and partly obstructed by the SCHLIEẞFÄCHER) and the sofa in question is rather large. Details on the sofa were shared by Karl in our Telegram group. The sofa also has some storage space and can be converted into a bed.

Karl requests a decision in about one week. We planned to decide by next meeting.

Uni Website Bachelor Informatik: False Information Listed

The text on the university's website, from our perspective, understates the importance of English prowess in CS courses. We've already talked to the Deans in the past and apparently its really hard to get the university to edit its website; even the Fachrichtung was unable to intervene so far.

This matter is especially pressing as many prospective students ask at job fairs and and university events. So accurate information is essential.

Manuel will contact Rahel.

Alex was somewhat irritated that after one year this issue has still not been resolved. He suggests putting more pressure on the people in charge. Manuel highlights that our Fachrichtung is very likely not at fault here.

EM Public Screening: Update on current state

We had good vibes at last Friday's EM screening even after it became apparent that Germany will lose.
Lukas has no ambition to host more screenings, especially since Germany is no longer involved. Daniel showed moderate interest. As the final is on Sunday and Germany won't play we don't expect much viewership.

In the end, nobody volunteered so probably no screenings will be hosted.

We thank Lukas (again). Left-over drinks will be returned soon™; be ready to help carry!

Update on current members and its implication

Felix has resigned as a member of FSR since he switches universities 🥹. He will be very much missed, especially since he was very involved in tackling our tasks.
Thus, we are left with only 11 members. I.e., we are severely lacking members. Our ability to host as many events as currently therefore is at risk.

Manu suggests collecting ideas on how to find more members. In the last election we already asked people to candidate more aggressively than before.
Anton suggests an Open Day for the FSR. Alex suggests a Käfig-Tour as part of the Open Day.
Simon wishes for more advertising at our events.
Lukas reminds us that we have to inform AStA about the step-down; although we told Felix to take care of that technically this is our responsibility.
Daniel states that an Open Day is not appealing to students. Instead we should put more emphasis on activism and the will to improve university à la “Something sucks? Let's make it better!” Manuel is also not convinced by the Open Day.
Simon suggests advertising in the team of the Mathematics Preparatory Course, especially considering that they already get some money from us.
Lukas suggests some kind of „FSR-Stammtisch“ where we can informally talk to fellow students outside of our members' usual crowds.
Daniel suggests addressing this topic in the next meeting. He would also like to host an event in few weeks; though exams make scheduling hard.

Jan-Philipp emphasises that we should take care of this while there are still courses.

Student council Retreat: Discussion on workshop-like event to improve and develop as students' council

Lukas introduced the idea to have a series of workshops maybe over the course of a long weekend. He imagines this to be similar to how KIF does things: participants are free to suggest workshops (either FSR-related or for funsies) with some exemplary topics being: How to Schwenk, How to Druckerpapierwechsel, How to Spülmaschinenbefüllung, ….
One possible date might be the long weekend starting 3rd October.

Anton states that this might compatible with the previously introduced idea of a FSR-Stammtisch. This kind of events seems to be not that committal and therefore more attractive to people who are interested or that are still on the fence.

Manuel raises that he has an excessive amount of friends and cannot imagine to invest that much time.
Anton thinks that one day might be sufficient. Ideally, the event should be shortly after the election and constitutional meeting. Lukas thinks that one day is insufficient.
Other people claiming to have many friends joined Manuel's argument of not being able to invest that much time.

Lukas and Kevin will have a look at whether we can host an instance of KIF's “AKPlanning” tool for workshop management.
