Agenda

Internal Social Event – Past & Future

We had an amazing social event on Saturday - the hike!

Anton shared glimpses of the hike, to fuel people's FOMO. He shares that they also got lost at some point. They also managed to come cross some rock that marks a border. They also spotted some Llama's and Alpaca's.

There were a total of 4 people. Anton feels betrayed since he put lots of efforts.
We now are planning schwenken. Anton will make a dudle for everyone to enter their availability. For those who want to be a part of the organisation, contact Anton

FSR photos

The FSR group photo is outdated. Anton will fix a date to take a new photo. A dudle will be circulated

FSR Retreat

We want to have a workshop where older members teach the newer members how things work in the fsr. Anton shows us a website where we can suggest workshops and/or show which workshop we are interested in. He gives a tutorial on how to add topics of your interest on that site.

This workshop will be chill and take place over a weekend. Scheduling seems to be a Lukas problem, anton doesn't care

Day of open Campus — Concrete Organisation

The day of open Campus will take place on May 25th. Anton wants to have proper organisation things done well enough in time. He presents some example things that we should be taking care of soon. These activity ideas include -
1. Quiz about the FSR: how many questions, how difficult, what questions exactly?
2. Tea: How much to prepare? How does it stay warm/cold?
3. Picture Slideshow: Someone needs to do that
4. Where to get the food awards?
5. How is our booth supposed to look like?

Daniel volunteers for the quiz and tea activity. Yağmur, Harry and JP have also volunteered. Daniel will hunt for some more people to help with these activities.

Discord Moderation & Rules Discussion

There was a whole discussion regarding how discord should be moderated. The moderator would essentially look over things like who should/shouldn't be banned, what are some policies that need to be introduced, and more.

The Discord Taskforce needs to start thinking of these things. Harry and Manuel are currently part of this. This taskforce seems like it has more of a support role for students who have questions or doubts on the discord. Questions arise about whether the social media taskforce also partakes in this process?

Alex says that we shouldn't classify this work into a specific box (support/social media). Instead, this should be voluntary and applicable to those members who are interested in drafting the policies for our discord.

Manuel shares that there are a lot of students on our discord. Many students ask questions about courses, or exams, or maybe even directly doubts, directed towards the student council members. There are also concerns about how political content is moderated over there.

Anton suggests finding 2 or 3 people who are willing to moderate the discord and skim through the discussions. Daniel shares that moderating 24/7 is not possible. It is better to set some internal ground rules to help with the moderation. Yağmur agrees with this suggestion. Having a clear seat of rules would prevent internal conflicts in terms of how the content is moderated.

Kamila would also like to help out with this taskforce. Manuel volunteers to help out with the intial work required but cannot do it long term. He gives suggestions on utilising a bot as well. This bot helps classify students based on their role and course of study. This makes only relevant content available to them. Manu says that there are lot of internal tips and tricks that he'd be happy to share with interested people.

This topic will be pushed to when more elected members are present to help with drafting the policies.

Updates on SE-lab

For years, people felt the SE-lab* is hard, sometimes unfair(…) we discussed in many meetings and in many deans lunches.

SE-Lab is a block course that takes place in the semester break after the summer semester. It consists of -
1 week theory (+entry exam at end of 1st week); 2 weeks of project design (group); 2 weeks of project implementation (same group); 2 weeks of solo work, extending the same project.

Based on the complains we recieved, some decisions were made to make positive changes. Now, we are allowed to share what the final changes are. We have a pdf document that shares these changes.

If we get asked by students about how this year’s SE-lab will be: tell them.
Daniel suggests we can also inform students via the website about the new changes. These changes are also uploaded onto the respective CMS.

Deans Lunch

TLDR, we meet various members of the faculty once a semester to discuss important topics. The first possible date is 8th May and the other is 22nd May. The meeting will be in english mostly. Food will be provided. Those who are interested please save the date.

Alex says that 22nd is a better option as we can prepare topics better for the meeting.

A topic list has already been curated and sent to Anton. This will hopefully shared internally soon. For every topic, write the topic title, a short decription, and estimated time of dicussion. If you write a topic, you will be responsible for presenting it.

The topic w.r.t BioInformatik and Graduate School will be presented on that day. This just needs to be added to the document. The complete list of attendees will include scientific and faculty staff.

There'll be two people from math department and two from the CS department. There will be representatives from Study Coordination too. We will also have the Managing Director of the CS department. Regarding the topics concerning the BioInformatik and Graduate School, there will be representatives from the responsible departments.

Kevin complains about how support works

Kevin feels that currently the online support group currently is understaffed. We have lots of open and unanswered tickets. He would appreciate more help in this. Currently, only Alex and Max take care of these. Kamila is there too, to help with this.

Student Working room 106

The door knob of the SR-106 is broken. It is not yet fixed.

So, we require someone to open the door in the mornings for students to gain access and lock the rooms at the end of the day.
