Agenda

Plagiarism

We have prepared a plagiarism statement for our website and collected some feedback. General comments are that plagiarism is only a subset of academic dishonesty.
For the use of generative AI (ChatGPT) there is some clarification necessary, i.e. without consent of the lecturer.
On the other hand, using lecture material for assignment sheets is usually okay.
Additionally we want to further clarify that, if you are expelled here, you lose your right to study computer science all over Germany.
All people who contributed feedback should add it as a comment in the document so the revision is easier.

Student Council Members

We are putting quite some effort into our events, and as some of us are not going to be run for council again, we are worried that we can keep up our services during next election period. Unless some people are joining us, we might need to stop some of our services. We are discussing options on how to motivate new people to come here. Daniel already designed a nice self-advertisement poster. We are collecting ideas currently, which contain social media, an open-meeting format (similar to an office hour, but people can talk to us about everything), or a designated event.
During the open-meeting format, we can offer some goodies like free coffee or people can buy some beer etc.
We want to start with the open-meeting format, for which we need a name, posters and flyers. Daniel and Lizzie is going to organise the first special event. Manuel and Lukas will organise a weekly meet-up.

Equipment

Last week we discussed the option for a new Sofa in the Verfügungsraum. One one hand the old sofa is falling apart, but the new one would crowd the room a lot.
We voted for getting the new sofa (1 in favour, 2 against, 6 abstaining) and thus are not going to get it.

Social Task Force

This is our report of the social Task Force, listing the events we organised:
- 3 Game nights, each ~50 people. We plan another one before the SE-lab starts.
- a few quiz nights, which were well received. Lukas plans another one within the next weeks despite the exams. Afterwards there will be a creative break during the semester break, where the
- public screening of the european championships, which went really well, lots of people attended. We still need to return drinks for evaluation. We think about doing the same with the Olympics, however the interest might not be that high.
- There was one internal social event organised by Anton, which was really nice and should be done more often.

Breakfast

There was a breakfast about 3 weeks ago, which went really well. The Hotdogs were well received, which were rather low-effort but a little more on the expensive side. Usually there would not be another one until October, however we think about supporting the SE-labs attendees with free food. Alternatively offer free-coffee short before the deadline.

University Website

By chance we met the university website text designer, who agreed the computer-science part of the university website is misleading. He asked us to write an official email to him as the student council. He then plans to incorporate it after feedback from the department.
Simon is going to take over the communication.

T-Shirts

We are currently stuck in the process of getting student council shirts. It is unclear where the problem is. The design is close to finalised, but the ordering process is unclear, as we are searching for a high-quality printing company. Some members feel like the communication between us and the organising team is bad.
As the shirt process is kind of slow, we don't want to wait until the shirts are there for a photo of the student council.
Thus, we propose that the T-shirt team organises the new shirts in the next two weeks. Otherwise we will settle for a lower-quality option.

SIC-sticker

We will print SIC-sticker soon for distributing them to the students. If people put them onto their students ID, the security will not throw them out of the university after the official opening hours so they can prepare for the exam undisturbed.

Games

We wanted to get rid of old games. The mathematics Student council took some of them over already. As the FSK takes place this week we will advertise it there. Afterwards we will put them out, free for all.
