Agenda

Student council work – Fairness considerations

Anton voices out that there is a problem - there are current members who are not doing as much as work as the others. He is not trying to introduce maintaining minutes of work done. Some people feel that it isn't fair that they have to pull the weight of those who aren't. It would be helpful if peopel actually do help out from time to time, to make it less overwhelming for the others.

Anton believes that punishment doesn't work. Instead, we should find a way to motivate the members to actually participate. He would like to publicly shame some members. Their names won't be revealed.

Manu says we can't punish people, we don't have that authority (Lukas is willing to regardless). Manu suggests that if members are not being responsive in the chat, tag them explicitly. Another suggestion is that if members are not seeing for meeting over a long time, then we should again poke them and ask why they aren't able to attend. A severe action is to contact AStA about their lack of contribution.

Ferdinand says that sometimes the work done by members is not very noticeable. So it is possible to feel that people aren't pulling their weight.

Lizzie suggests that delegating tasks could be helpful. Anton adds a comment that delegating sounds good in theory. However, this could be as good as just forcing work on someone who isn't interested in working in the first place. He says that a reasonable expectation is that members should attend the meetings in the least, as this can make them aware of what the current matters at hand are. He says that maybe we can establish a guideline on who does what work, how much of it and how to communicate with each other.

FSR Breakfast

We have a date, it is June 3rd. We have also posted the dudle to ask everyone's availability.

Building on the previous discussion, we will now take into a consideration halal options as well, to cater to more students. We are still unsure about the kosher options and will have to consult someone for more info on this. We will also put something informative to let students know.

In other news, we will be offering hot dogs in the upcoming breakfast. We will also have some iced coffee, cause summer - yay!

FS-Euro

To recap, we get funding from AStA and we need to allocate it to our events and show invoices of how we use it. Lukas used to do this before, but now he is not elected and feels wierd to ask the refund. He would like for us to vote on whether or not he can request funds from the FS-Etat on behalf of the FSR, with and invoice from FIS e.V.

We now vote:(cause dun dun dunnnnnn.....)
In Favour - 9
Abstain - 0
Against - none

Issues with Course Registration

There are some advanced courses from CISPA that have limited seats. The courses have FCFS basis registration. There is not offical announcement on whether the registration actually opens, its pure luck.

Ferdinand says that the current ambigous system allows shaping of the course students as compared to publicly announcing that the course is now open for registration.
Ferdinand says that a lot of courses are going to introduce a capacity limit eventually, and by then it may lead to worse circumstances.

JP adds that he has spoken to someone. He shares that Data networks being a core lecture can't limit the capacity, legally. They can have the entrance quiz/ mini-tests, but not set a official limit. Well, oops I guess.

Harry would like to understand what the final opinion should be?
Setting a limit or having screening tests. Ferdinand says no one wants to have screening tests, it's too much work. Harry then says that if CISPA introduces announcements, then all other institutes will have to make announcements.

We are going to push this to the dean's lunch, this needs much more further discussion.

Exam Inspections

A student contacted us that they missed out on registering to check their exam, but the department refused to let the student examine their exam.

Anton says that it shouldn't be too difficult for the chair to accomodate such a one-off request. Many other chairs already do this.

Team Social Media has a gameplan

In the last meeting, anton pointed out that we should do something to create more engagement and introduce our current elected members to the students.

An idea to this is possibly an instagram takeover just like last year. Anyone who would like to volunteer please contact Lizzie, Abigail or Yağmur.

We are also open to more suggestions!

Deans lunch

Alex wants to remind everyone that on 22nd May, noon, we have the deans lunch. We explained to steve what a deans lunch is, just a recap (Lukas is very nice that way)

At present, there are three topics that are "orphan" and need someone to represent them. Alex exaggerates that the topics are "crying like babies". Alex then explains the technicalities of one of the topics to make it more "adoptable" (building on the baby reference, cause we are funny that way)

PS: there'll be pizza

Was ist StuBA?

David, Sophie and Lukas (as a joke) pitched a student association. The association is to drink and enjoy beer (culture and more things). This got approved and well, now they need to do things.

As a association, they want to be serious about this. They would like to organise something like a pub crawl and/or stammtisch to get more students aware of this.

Lukas will soon circulate a message about the Pub Crawl. He also has some more ideas for future.
