Agenda
Dean’s Lunch
---- INFO ------
Deans Lunch date is fixed now: 11th of November.
(Deans Lunch is a lunch with Deans and other relevant people at faculty, where there is lunch, and a discussion about currently happening things.)
SE-Lab support event
---- INTRO ------
Last year we had a support event for the students doing SoPra, now we discuss about doing this again.
---- DISCUSSION ------
Last time we had a common room for sharing feelings (also venting) about SoPra where we provided Tea and Coffee together with some snacks.
We will look into other things that might help to push through some late bug hunts like ramen, and other snacks and sweets, and will check out our budget regarding the feasibility.
Realistically, we will likely run into the problem of having to few helpers, since a lot of the council and volunteering members are occupied by other events (StEP, math prep course, and also taking SoPra themselves). If we do not have enough helpers, we would need to scale down the event or wont be able to hold it at all.
So, if you feel like helping, we are happy for any support :)
---- CONCLUSION ------
Planning for the event started, more news as soon as we know more.
Internal Messenger Service
---- INTRO ------
We have a lasting discussion now about switching out msg channel. More discussion below :)
---- DISCUSSION ------
Our current messenger channel (Telegram) is getting worse (xAI chat bot integration, advertisement in announcement channels).
There is a lengthy discussion in our shared docs, for anyone that has interest in the topic and is able to vote (volunteering and elected members) please look into it.
---- CONCLUSION ------
There will be one week time from now to look into the doc and discuss there.
After that week, there will be another week to vote by Email in the form of 'ranked choice instant runoff vote'*
---- Appendix ------
*Ranked choice instant runoff vote:
First Count: Everyone’s first-choice votes are counted.
If one candidate gets more than half (a majority), they win right away.
Elimination: If no one has a majority, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated.
Redistribution: The people who voted for the eliminated candidate have their votes transferred to their next choice (their 2nd choice, if available).
Repeat: This process continues—eliminating the lowest candidate and redistributing their votes—until one candidate ends up with more than half of the votes.
Sick Note
---- INTRO ------
There will be a uniform sick note template.
---- DISCUSSION ------
The unified sick note will help students and course organizers to have a better way of calling in sick for exams.
It is a document that you (students) can/should give to your doctor, which your doctor will then additionally fill out.
The document is bilingual and will be printed and spread around uni for students that do not have a printer (FSR room, StEP, ...)
The doc will/should also be mentioned by the courses exam topic.
Additionally, there will also be an Email announcing this, posters done by the CS Council, a pdf link in our FAQs on our website, it will be on PS Mint, we will talk about this in StEP, and also in our protocol (we now talked about this in our protocol ✓).
The document is currently 3 pages long and it might be able to reduce it to 2 pages to have it on one sheet of paper. For this, the legally binding section will be separate with an additional explanation page.
There are still some things in the doc, that we will give some feedback. For example, the oral and written category on the doc should be merged to reduce complexity.
The document will need to go through legal processes before release, and will most likely be ready at the start of the next semester.
---- CONCLUSION ------
Document release will most likely at the start of the next semester.
