Agenda

Photo

We took a photo of the present council members today. We thank Ted for the effort at finding the perfect photographing position

Database Systems

There were some Complaints about the Database Systems lecture, especially about one TA. For example, the TA was rude/passive-aggressive while answering forum posts. We will ask for screenshots or some other proof for the claim.

Digital Meetings

There were lots of complaints about our current online meeting tool. We discussed the advantages of Zoom, DFN, Teams, Discord. Some arguments are listed below.
Other options would be CISCO Webex, Jitsy and BBB.
There was the idea to designate a person who is in charge for setting up the meeting. This person could also be responsible for supervising the chat and raised hands. Rafay volunteered to set up the meeting, Munem volunteered to monitor the chat. We decided that meetings from now on will be s.t.

We voted openly on whether we want try out discord for short time (8 in favour, 6 against, 3 abstaining)

Discord: -necessity for an account, +easily accessibility as long as you have an account
Zoom: -rather resource-heavy, -personal preference, +no strong other arguments
Teams: +official university tool, -does not work well with linux users, /can be set up so outsiders can join
DFN: -resource-heavy, +very easy to join without their account, -no automatic reconnect

Career Tuesday

KWT has a career tuesday, where companies present themselves to advertise themselves. Next week a company will come to E1 3, Room 107. We offer to hang up advertisement if we get poster designs.

Event Organisation

We are happy for each member organising an event, where everybody has another style of organising. The current feedback culture is not working well. If you are not happy with the event organisation, please give feedback to the organisers.

Doodles

The doodles are usually not filled out in time. The doodle organisers usually need to repeatedly ask people for filling out the doodle, which is super annoying and stressful. The organisers will be more strict in future, as they expect people to fill out the doodle rather soon before the deadline. Anton V. volunteered to write a reminder on the last day on a best-effort service. Alternatively the people could write a scheduled reminder while setting up the Telegram message

Quiz Night

The Quiz Night took place last week, ~50 people attended, which was way more than we expected. It was really well received, but next time we need to have pre-registration as we cannot accomodate all the people. There were some organisational hiccups with the drinks, but these have nothing to do with us. We thank the organisers Rafay and Lukas a lot for organising. For that we could to outsource the drink distribution to the event location.
We plan to redo Quiz Nights on a regular basis, probably once a month. We plan to maybe relocate to other dormitories to have a secret dormitory-crawl.
The student council team scored second place.

Breakfast

The Breakfast will take place on 02nd of June. We are currently thinking about what to have for lunch.

Working Students

It is possible for students to get CP for working students as long as they are working in a job related to their studies by decision of an Examination Board. We will write a message to the examination office and the examination boards to update the information on their webpage.

University Open Day

The University Open Day is around the courner, so please fill out the doodle until tomorrow. This is important as the people present get access to a break room.
