Agenda

Collaboration with Math Students' Council

Anton thinks that it is a bit sad that we never hear anything from the Math Students' Council. We should consider working together with them more closely as it would benefit students both from the Math and the CS department.
For example we could visit their council meetings from time to time to keep updated on their affairs as our courses of study are closely related.

We do have some overlapping events with them such as Game Nights, so maybe at least we should coordinate that with them to avoid overlaps. Manu once tried to do a collaborative Game Night with the Math Students' Council, however it wasn't much different from the usual Game Nights. Generally we do not have any issue with Math People joining our events.

However we already know that students from CS and math already get together and know each other, so there necessarily is not a need to organize joint events just to improve social interaction.

In the past there appareantly was a shared Google Calendar for the councils of the different natural sciences to put in their events. In addition we should offer a person of contact for other students' councils to talk to. Anton V. volunteered to do that.

Exam Scheduling

There were some issues with some exam scheduling regarding lectures from Computer Science and the Math department. There were 3 mandatory (second semester) exams were scheduled on three subsequent days.

Simon is in touch with the department and the issue is being handled.

Students' Council Election

Jaidev raised the question if there is a maximum duration someone can stay an elected council member. As far as we are aware, there is no formal limit but just a limit on how many CP you can get.

Jaidev proposed to impose an informal limit that we adhere to. The reasoning is that this would give more students' the chance to get elected.

Some remarks where made regarding this:
- Most of the times, we barely fill our 15 slots in the elections as it is, so most likely at some point we may run out of members
- If voluntary members are present in events before the elections, they will msot likely get elected in the next election
- This would most likely also lead to a loss of knowledge when people leave
- In the past we had elected members not showing much effort, such a limit might worsen this situation

However we are not sure if this would even be possible.

We vote on whether we want to pursure this topic further, meaning we want to find out if it would even be possible:

Google Developer Students' Club

We were contacted by the GDSC to find some point of contact.

They want to collaborate with us closer. We are open to that, but it would be nice if one of them might join one of our next meetings to explain what they do and what collaborations they have in mind.

Banner

Daniel B. has created a banner proposal for us. We are very grateful for that. There was some small feedback that will be incorporated for a final version. Also we should consider that the holes in the banner should not overlap with the design.

We put to a vote if we want to accept the proposed design (with the changes) and ask the FIS to order it.

Day of the Open Door

We will have a booth at the day of the open door. It will be in front of HS001.
The people that are in the very first shift will meet there at 09:30 sharp. The people who have entered to help on Friday please be there at 1PM sharp.

If you registered for a shift and are assigned to it PLEASE BE THERE. People helping will have access to the snack room (In MPI E1.4). We do not know what the snack room contains.

Please check your shift times and make sure that they are all correct. Please be there a little before your shift, so you can get all set-up and introduced.
Simon wrote a program on how to use the program for his AI work. It will also explain a small technical explanation for visitors who want to know more.

Social Events

The Quiz Night will happen in two weeks. Lukas will organize it and might require some help, but not too much. Please fill out the Dudle if you are available.

Lukas had a meeting with the universities' fire safety officer today regarding the summer BBQ. They had a productive meeting and we now know how to arrange everything so he is happy. He is a really nice guy. He also gave us a point of contact to get our fire extinguishers checked.

Cryptography

Some of our Council Members are currently listening to the Crypto lecture.
There were some concerns raised regarding this:
- There are no recordings of the lectures
- The excercise sheets are from last year, which are from a different lecture and the contents do not match up
- The professor is not communicating with his tutors for tutorial preparation
- It is not clear what will be the contents of the mid-term will be

What is odd about the situation is that in theory the lecture is held by two lectures adn the other one was also a professor in the previous iteration.

Appareantly the professor is not too familiar with the way lectures are organised in Germany. He has repeatedly asked students regarding organizational issues on lectures. Some council members attended a lecture from the professor in the last year/semester and also had some negative experiences.
But generally the professor seems to be a nice person.

We should try to get onto that since Crypto is a mandatory course for some courses of study. We suggest to propose a person that is currently not taking the lecture to talk to them.
Mona volunteered to do that.

Finding out your Examination Regulations

Some people are confused on what examination regulations apply to them.
Appareantly the easiest way to find it is using the LSF.

FSR Mascot

David proposed if we maybe want to check out to get a mascot. We created a Meinungsbild. Most people present were positively about it.

David will look into it to maybe find out some old or new drafts.

Fire-proof mat for the Schwenker

Our metal sheets we use as protection for the floor of our schwenker are always a pain to use.
Lukas suggested to get a big fire-proof mat like the physics council has for their schwenker. A big one (2.5x3.5m) would be around 40€

Microwave Cover

Our Microwave cover is missing. We will look for it after the meeting.
