Agenda

QUALIS

We want to reform the QUALIS evaluations. For that we might have a HiWi position available to set up a new, better system for the CS-Department available.

PPB/Psychological Counceling

The PPB is planning to host an exam anxiety workshop in English soon. The workshop is planned to be hosted soon, but we were asked to promote it, especially among the international students which are especially frequent in computer science programmes. Especially for the first time this workshop needs to be well visited, so the organisers know that it is useful to invest in it.
We discussed on how to well promote the workshop, e.g. via Email, announcing it on our website. We also thought about promoting it during StEP, although some of us doubt that the StEP is the correct occasion, as we do not have as many people of the target audience there. Other advertising could be at our events.
This workshop also already exists in German, as well as other offers for them.
If you have personal problems (lack of motivation, difficulties at home or in a relationship, etc.) or academic problems (exam anxiety, procrastination, etc.), the counselling service of the Studierendenwerk offers free, personal and confidential counselling. You can find more information on their website: https://www.stw-saarland.de/en/Beratung

NEXT

We will have an internal meeting about the upcoming NEXTs next Wednesday.

Thought Protocols

Prof. Reineke asked us to stop uploading thought protocols of the system architecture. We had a personal talk with him about this. He argued that most students were not using the thought protocols as intended. That resulted in him removing the very simple exercises so the students are not able to copy solutions from the thought protocols anymore. That resulted the exam to be a lot harder. We proposed that he will offer a possible exam question collection. He agreed in general with us, but some details need to be worked out. In general it was a really productive discussion.

Bioinformatics-Conference

Unfortunately the Bioinformatics-Conference where we wanted to meet up with other bioinformatics student councils cannot take place. Apparently there is a fire safety issue, but our contact person in Munich thinks that is an excuse
