Agenda

New Faculty Members

We had Dr. Su as a guest for todays meeting. She is a new Post-Doc at the Chair of Prof. Nagashima.

She briefly told us about her research interests and what she is planning to do at the faculty. She is already involved in supervising bachelor- and master theses. She is also interested in planning new seminars about educational learning among other topics. We also discussed about the organisation of block seminars and seminars in general.

We wholeheartedly welcome her at our faculty.

TaCoS

We had some guests from the CoLi Students' Council. They are the organizers of next years' TaCoS here in Saarbrücken. The TaCoS is a conference that is organized by students for students.

They gave us a brief introduction about the TaCoS and that it is a very big event that takes a lot of organizational work. They have come to us as they are looking for support to organize this event, both in manpower and any other resource we can adjust.
We discussed what options we have to support them. Alex and Lukas will discuss with them how we usually acquire sponsors. Otherwise we can not financially support them as there are certain restrictions to our funds which disallow us to spend it for events of non-computer scientists.

Regarding manpower it is difficult to make any commitments as of now, also as the event is only in May after the elections and we do not want to put any burden on them. We can definitely advertise a call for participation on our social media channels and mailing lists. In addition we can support them with hardware and equipment if they need it.

In addition we can ask Natalia whether they can have one of the projectors that are currently available.

They also mentioned the opportunity for students to present their own research topics, such as bachelor or master theses, at the conference. They expect around 60 people for the event.

Verfügungsraum

Manu is asking for the University E-Sports Group whether they can rent out the Verfügungsraum regularly every Wednesday from 6PM.

We voted for it unanimously.

KIF

We postponed the KIF report to next week.

The next KIF is in Kaiserlautern from 08. May 2024-12. May 2024

Nikofete

The Nikofete is coming up soon.

We collected ideas what charities we could support. Suggestions were to support the Kältebus and Tafel again. There was also a suggestion to support a local animal shelter, kindergardens, retirement homes, Behindertenwerkstätte and maybe also donating to the sharing shelf organized by AStA.

We discussed that there might be some difficulties in donating to kindergardens, retirement homes or Behindertenwerkstätte as they are often associated with the church.

Daniel has made the suggestion to also organize something like a "Spendentombola" to gather more donations.

We should decide at the very latest next week whom we donate to.

Gamenights

Manu wants to organize another game night before the winter break.

He will send out a Dudle to check whether there are enough volunteers to organize this.

Students' Council Elections

The application phase for the students' councils elections will take place next week.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Students' Council you have to submit your application next week.
