Agenda

Zivilklausel

We got an email about a petition for a "Zivilklausel" (Selfagreement to only research for civil and peaceful purposes), asking us to sign and support it. We think there is some research for military purposes here at university, but the majority of research is more dual-used (e.g. new material from the material sciences).
We think that we are not in the position to take a stand in that, as it does not only affect the computer science faculty, but the entirety of university, so we think the AStA, StuPa and the ethics commission is a better place for the discussion and the decision. We voted in favour for pushing this to a higher university level (7 in favour, 0 against, 2 abstaining).

Guide for Evaluations Computer Science

There was a guideline update for the Lecture Evaluations. In general we think the new guidelines are reasonable, but the current status does not in fact allows us to get insight into the some of the results. If we would not have insight it will become very difficult for us to award busy beavers. Also there is an important difference between "Fachschaft" and "Fachschaftsrat".
We are in favour for that feedback (7 in favour, 0 against, 1 abstaining).

Examination Boards

We noticed that many students are not exactly aware how the Examination Boards work, what they do, and what the rights of the students are. Thus we would like to have a FAQ-page on our website. Mona proposed a first draft for that which for us looks reasonable, so we will use that one.

SE Lab

We had a discussion with the SE-Chair about the problems about this years Software Engineering lab. We collected a lot of Feedback for the Chair, but in the end we did not end up having a personal discussion with the Chair, as per usual. Apparently the communication went sideways, and the communication among us went wrong too.
We plan to send out an apology to the chair and offer them open communication again.

Breakfast

The students council wants to host another breakfast before the lecture period ends. More information will come soon, but there are plans for making soup again. In case you want to help, enter yourself into the doodle in our group.
