Agenda

Busy Beaver

We decided the Busy Beaver Winners. The presenters are not quite clear yet, however Lukas and Manuel did it every time so far. If not we will find someone.

Day of the open Door

We want to offer an event at the Day of the open Door. Unfortunately there were not too many activity proposals: We could again use Simons Connect-4 AI, or set up our mobile gaming station or print custom designed KeyCaps.
We advise against using our mobile gaming station, as it will be probably used for a free-time activity for kids so their parents have some free time.
Additionally we want to hang up some of our posters to give insight on how our events are organised, give out some of our stickers etc.
We should also borrow some brochures about the study programmes from the study coordination as last time there were many questions about personal experiences in the study programme as with them it is easier to talk about.
Anton will send these to the Day of the open Door organisers.

Deans Lunch

The Deans Lunch will take place on 07th of May. All student council members are invited.

Student Council

There has been a change in the current State of the Student Council: Jaidev has decided to resign from his position. To make it official with the university, he is going to write an email to the Fachschaften Referee at AStA (David). We are quite sorry about this and wish him best luck for the future and thank him for the commitment. Nevertheless, we hope to stay in Contant and that Jaidev will still continue to help us out as a voluntary member.

Department Update

The Deans office were newly distributed with the start of the new Semester. The new Deans are Roland Speicher from the Maths and his deputee is Sven Rahmann. Martina Maggio will continue as Dean of Study until the end of the semester.
We thank the previous Dean, Prof. Steimle for his commitment and the effort he put into the department.

Repetitorial

The MfCS repetitorial took place last week. We thank a lot to Manuel, Karl, Anton and Simon Hector who helped as tutors. As a little physical reward we will give out a coupon for the Summer BBQ.
In the beginning there were about 56 people (7 english) but the attendances declined rather quickly among the english participants. For the mock exam, 39 People (8 english) participated, but again the decline was rather large.
Biggest thank goes to Simon for organising everything.

Examination Board

Last time we discussed about the necessity of new Examination Board members. However we were not aware that there are more open positions than anticipated.
Usually it is not too much work, as long as nothing drastic happens.
Luckily we found some volunteers:
- Master DSAI deputy: Kevin
- CS both German/English: Anton, Deputee: Lizzie

Computer Graphics

The announced Computer Graphics grading scheme differed from the one actually used in the end. The grading scheme needs to be announced at the beginning of the course.
It was announced as: 50% exam, 15% for the rendering competition plus bonus points for the artistic quality, 35% for the exercise sheets.
The non-announced grading was 50% exam, 35% for practical and theoretical assignments(exercise sheets and feature points), 15% for the artistic quality of the students.
So in the end the feature points were shifted from the rendering competition to the assignment sheets. Many students were focussing only on
The examination regulations strictly forbid to change the grading criteria during the semester.
This lead to some students focussing less on the artistic quality because they only matter for bonus points causing them to get worse grade. However it is also unfair wrt. to the students who adapted to the new grading scheme to change it back to the original scheme.
Lizzie will write an Email to the TA to resolve this issue.
