Agenda

SE-Lab support event

We planned to support SE-Lab students with a dedicated event on 27th of September. Lukas has prepared a few ideas of how to implement this. Generally it is not much effort to do, just prepare snacks and coffee. Unfortunately Lukas is not in Saarbrücken at that point, so we search for volunteers to organise this event. If we find enough people, we can stretch this event over multiple days.
We can design a few posters to hang up. Financially this would not be a problem.

Quiz Night

There will be a season finale of the quiz night on 07th. of September. There will be a prize for the overall winners.

Stammtisch

There is a new regular social event we host. The first Stammtisch (engl. regular meet-up) will take place today (!) after our student council meeting. Generally it will take place regularly. Watch out for advertisement we will start to do regularly.

Verfügungsraum

The Verfügungsraum has been rented out to the SE-Lab from next week on. We need to reorganise the room. We will do so by bothering people at the game night deconstruction shift. We will remind Manuel to consider this when planning.

KIF

Mona and Kevin participated in the most recent KIF. It took a while until the report was finished, you can find it completely in our git repository. As a short summary they participated in a few panels, e.g. organising LAN-parties, system administration, quality management, how to be inclusive to international students, accreditation seminars, discussion of participation in university boards, firing professors, Cooperations&Sponsorships, finding theses, introduction event, Exmatriculating courses, AI&Plagiarism.
Generally, the KIF was lots of fun.

The next KIF is already shortly around the corner. It will take place at 17th-24th of October in Friedberg (Hessen). If you want to there, we have an information document, and usually the expenses are waived by AStA. We will bring this up again next meeting, so please make up your mind if you want to go.

StEP

Anton presented the current state of the StEP planning. There now is a fixed schedule, guest lecturers have been invited. We will publish the schedule, so people can volunteer for the talks they are interested. Afterwards we will actively search out people who are people who are currently sparse on talks.

Sponsoring Guidelines

We gave Lukas Feedback towards the proposed sponsoring guidelines. He will use it to create a sample contract. After potential proof-reading we will message potential proof-reading.

SE-Lab

The SE-Lab is currently taking place. We are supporting the students currently taking it by offering help. We have also announced that there, so we should be prepared if students ask for help. So far we don't have gotten any complaints. We plan to start a collection of complaints. We need to see how many complaints are coming in. If it is not manageable, we will determine a person who has an overview.
We don't think it is realistic to offer proper office hours. Organisatorial this would be a nightmare.

Faculty Merch

A student reached out to us. Their friend is studying psychology, and they have their own merch. The student would think it would be great if we would have similar ourselves. We have also already been contacted by companies who would organise the ordering and logistic process. However some members feel like their offer is, while not a scam, a little suspicious, because they trap you in a subscription.
Alternatively we could organise this completely by ourselves. This would be a significant logistical problem and financial risk.
Alternatively, we could ask the SIC who has more experience with this.

First, we will investigate whether their is broader interest in this among the students body.
In any case, this will probably a more long-term project.

Anton will try to get the opinion of the students body.

Study Documents

We noticed that some of the documents students need to interact with are still only available in German. We think that international students are at a severe disadvantage because they cannot read/understand the usual very official language.
We want to make it possible that there is a translation, although not necessarily be a binding one. There are some problems, because somebody needs to this, also certifiedly properly, which is difficult because of the jurisdictual language.

First, we will collect a list of all documents in need of translation. Then we will consider all options of where this translation could be done.

Students Project

Anton thinks there are some things missing from students life. Especially there are some extracurricular activities missing. Thus a few collaborative students projects would be nice. Anton is interested in founding such a students project to DIY a drone. It can only work if there are enough interested people. The group will only come to life in half a year or so, because Anton will be away for that time. Nevertheless he is searching for people who are interested. If you are interested, or know someone who would like to be part of a project, please contact Anton.
The project is also not necessarily fixed in its scope, we can find another project to work on.
The FIS and the students council is generally in favour of supporting this event, e.g. by providing the Verfügungsraum or covering some of the material costs.
