Agenda
StuBA Stammtisch
---- INTRO ------
StuBA would like to host a Stammtisch.
---- DISCUSSION ------
StuBA would like to rent the Verfügungsraum once per month to hold a Stammtisch event (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stammtisch).
They are asking if the CS students' council would like to have this as a joint event.
We vibed the room usage to be ok.
For making it a joined event we did a vote:
Yes: 5
No: 1
Abst: 2
---- CONCLUSION ------
The Stammtisch was approved and will be a joined event with the CS students' council.
Announcements of Meetings
---- INTRO ------
We do have 5 minute takers but somehow the meeting announcements do not work correctly.
---- DISCUSSION ------
We have several channels where we could / used to announce meetings, but some seem to have been abandoned by our 2+1+2=5 minute takers / meeting planners.
Seemingly abandoned:
fsr@ mailing list
Discord events
Poorly maintained / Semi-abandoned:
Physical calendar
SOGo
Maintained:
Discord “#fsr-meeting” channel
“FS Informatik UdS” Telegram broadcast
Signal “Fachschaft” channel
Signal “Fachschaft Council” channel
Since telegram is no longer CS council supported, it would make sense to switch to Signal completely and also create an announcement channel in Signal. The Telegram channel will be supported for some more meeting but will have a disclaimer form now on informing about the switch.
There is software to manage the topic announcement and have it broadcasted to different channels wit different templates. We will further look into this.
Regarding the Discord events we decided to completely drop them from now on, since the meeting is already announced in Discord via the meeting announcement channel.
We are not sure if the physical calender next to our door is even used at all and will try to ask around and figure this out. The space used by the calendar could be used differently, for example protocol hang outs.
SOGo will be maintained again and better.
Currently the minutes, cleanup of protocol, meeting doc and meeting announcement is mostly done by one person, the minute task force will figure out how to improve this and distribute the workload better between 5 people.
---- CONCLUSION ------
We went over the channels and decided per channel what to do. Regarding the quality, the task force will figure something out.
Intermediate tenure-track eval committee
---- INTRO ------
The Deans’ are searching for a student member for an intermediate tenure-track evaluation of Prof. Feit.
---- DISCUSSION ------
The committee (minute takers notes: weird word, way to many double chars) will also need a statement from the students about performance in teaching and student supervision.
Please let me know who could join the to represent the students."
We voted if we favor Ferdinant joining the ccomittee
Yes: 6
No: 0
Abs: 2
We voted if we favor Abigail (Anton if Abigail can't join), joining the commiitte
Yes: 6
No: 0
Abs: 2
Abigail confirmed that she can join post vote.
---- CONCLUSION ------
We voted for two members to suggest.
Torch run Alexander Koller
---- INTRO ------
Professor Alexander Koller is in contract negotiation with the university, so we could show support with a torch run event.
---- DISCUSSION ------
Prof. Koller is strongly involved in the Computer Linguistics program and therefore we could hold a joined event with the coli students council. A torch is not that established as of now in the coli department.
---- CONCLUSION ------
We will ask Coli if they want to do this, if yes we will support this event (Glühwein, Posters).
New Taskforce KIF orga
---- INTRO ------
Since we will organize a KIF in the upcoming years and therefore are already planning the event, it would make sense to have a dedicated task force.
---- DISCUSSION ------
A task force would make it more clearer who is involved in the planning.
Also this would mean, that when distributing task forces at the beginning of the next council period, this additional work would be considered and members would get the time they need to work on this.
We would push this as task force now but it will also need to be handled by the next council.
Pro new KIF Task force:
Yes: 5
No: 0
Abst: 3
---- CONCLUSION ------
We will have now and forward a dedicated task force for the upcoming KIF event.
KIF Members
---- INTRO ------
KIF in Trier is about to take place.
(Conference of all CS students' councils in Germany:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konferenz_der_Informatikfachschaften)
---- DISCUSSION ------
Date: 25-30 November 2025.
Typically 2people get reimbursed by AStA (only if elected members). Reimbursement MUST be proposed before the event (>1week, AStA processes slowly)
The KIF is open to all council connected people. Anton and Clemens are volunteering to go there but can not be reimbursed, since they went there before.
Traveling cost is reimbursed and KIF ticket cost. Plus free food and a T-Shirt. Also it is in Trier this time, which is very close.
---- CONCLUSION ------
We could not find anyone present in the meeting that has time to join so we will ask around internally a bit more.
Student Council Elections
---- INFO ------
There will an election NOW for a new CS students' council.
Since there is a switch in the election period to summer semester form now on, the current election period would be longer then usual. We already discussed about this in past meetings and as a council voted in favor of this.
Later, the AStA gave the option to hold an extraordinary election for just the winter semester.
We decided to take this offer and therefore are now in the process of a new election period.
AStA is trying out a new voting system and still need some time to get everything running. As soon as it is possible to nominee, we will announce this via our regular channels.
Additionally we will hold an WHAT IS COUNCIL? event in E1.3 next week (date still not fixed) where we sit at a table, share some tea / coffee and some stories all about CS students' council. If you are interested in joining feel free to take a seat at this event and ask around :)
We will also think about courses where this could be shouted out.
Nomination period: (As soon as the system runs) - 07.11
Nominees visible online: 17.11 -21.11
Start voting period: 24.11 - (one week).
